Post-Surgery Guide

Part 1

The first 24 hours — protect the clot

For the next few days — especially the first 24 hours — your body needs to form a good clot and begin healing.

  • No swishing, no drinking through a straw, no smoking — all three can dislodge the clot.
  • Keep anything sharp away from the implant sites: crunchy food, toothpicks, utensils.
  • Limit heavy chewing and keep to a soft diet while you heal.
  • No rinsing of any kind until 24 hours have passed.

Takes about a minute · No obligation

Please note: routine dental implants are not a Medicaid or Medicare benefit and are primarily paid out-of-pocket or through third-party financing. If you have a credit score below 650, no co-signer, and require financing, we likely cannot help. Tooth loss with a medical cause may be different — see our medical insurance page.
